Asana says "Save up to 18%" with yearly billing. We didn't capture its monthly-billing prices.
Seat-bundle rules: the real price driver
- monday.com. "Our pricing plans start at a minimum of 3 seats, and then ascend in multiples of 5. If you have a team of 4… choose the 5-seat option. And if you have a team of 6, you will need to select the 10-seat plan." (monday.com support) The pricing page asks teams of more than 40 users to request a quote.
- Asana. Asana offers "2-, 3-, 4- and 5-seat plans; increments of 5 up to 30 users (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30); increments of 10 up to 100 users." If you have more internal users than you've paid for, Asana charges the larger bundle automatically. (Asana Help Center)
- ClickUp. Its pricing page lists prices per user. We found no bundle rule on it.
Hidden costs
monday.com:
- 3-seat minimum, so a 2-person team on a paid plan pays for 3.
- Basic has no automations. Standard includes 250 automation and 250 integration actions a month; Pro includes 25,000 of each.
- AI runs on credits. Extra credits are bought separately.
- Refunds and tax: no refund on a downgrade after the refund window, and prices exclude tax.
ClickUp:
- Monthly billing costs more. Business is $19 monthly vs $12 yearly, and Unlimited is $10 vs $7.
- Free Forever limits: 60MB of storage, and its guests must be given full access with no permissions.
- Automations: Business lists "5K Automations Per Month". The Unlimited plan's automation limit isn't stated in what we captured.
Asana:
- Bundles: paying for unused seats between bundle sizes, and automatic bundle upgrades when you add users.
- No 1-seat plan; the minimum is 2.
- Advanced is 2.3× Starter ($24.99 vs $10.99) for portfolios, goals, resource management, approvals and time tracking.

Which tool fits which buyer?
- Tight budget, team size changes often: ClickUp Unlimited. It's the lowest price we found here and you pay per user, with no bundles.
- Small team that wants unlimited automations cheaply: Asana Starter. It lists "Unlimited automations" and "Unlimited free guests" at $10.99 billed annually.
- Teams that want visual boards and already use monday CRM or dev: monday Standard or Pro keeps everything in one account. Size your team to a bundle (3, 5, 10, 15…).
- Teams that need portfolios, goals and resource planning: compare Asana Advanced ($24.99) with ClickUp Business ($12), which lists Goals & Portfolio Management already in Unlimited. Check the feature lists against your must-haves.
- Two people, no budget: all three have free plans. monday Free covers up to 2 seats, Asana Personal covers 2 users, and ClickUp Free Forever lists "Unlimited Free Plan Members" with tight storage limits.
